Online service My Student@work and app Student@work
As a student, you receive a yearly hours package from the government. During those hours, you work at reduced social contributions
To track those hours, the online service My Student@work and the app Student@work (on the App Store or Play Store) are available.
With that online service and app:
- you can see how many hours you have left from your hours package; these are your remaining hours;
- download a form for your employer. This allows you to show your employer how many hours they can still employ you at reduced social contributions.
If you use the online service My Student@work on your computer, you will get more details such as an overview of all your student jobs with a student agreement, the names of your employers, etc.
Logging in to a government online service is done through CSAM, which is also the case for My Student@work. CSAM is a secure access management system. There are several ways to log in:
- With an electronic identity card (eID) and eID card reader: more info on the BOSA webpage about the .eID card reader (New window)
- With itsme®: more info on the Bosa webpage How can I use itsme® to log on to a government online service? (New window).
- Using a security code via e-mail: more info on the BOSA webpage about the Security code via e-mail (New window).
- With a security code via mobile app: more info on the BOSA webpage about the Security code via mobile app (New window).
- With an electronic identifier recognised at European level: more info on the Electronic Identification And Trust Services (eIDAS) page of the BOSA website (New window).
These are also the ways you can log in to the app Student@work. The main advantage of the app is that you only need to log in once to access your data for two months. Each visit adds another two months.
There are 2 possibilities:
- Your identity is already registered: you can go to a local registration office (.pdf-New window) for your digital keys. Please contact the population service to request an appointment.
- Your identity has not yet been registered: You will find all the information to request and activate a digital key online in the manual on the BelgianID website (New window). You will need to follow 4 steps:
- You schedule an appointment for the video interview.
- Confirm your appointment.
- Take part in the video interview.
- Activate your digital key.
Don't know if your identity is already registered? Send us your name and date of birth via the contact form. We will check it for you.
Check your hours
If you are logged in, you will get access to the homepage where you can read your remaining hours.
Want to see all the details? Use the online service My Student@work on your computer.
The calendar view of My Student@work (on your computer) shows on which days you worked or will work for an employer. If you hover your mouse over a date, you see the names of your employer(s). You see data for the previous, current and next year.
Please note: the days indicated in the calendar do not always correspond to what has been agreed with your employer. For example: an employer plans to have you work 30 hours in the month of July but does not yet know exactly when. He therefore reserves the entire month of July, mentioning the number of hours agreed (30). What matters is that those 30 hours come off your hours package, not the whole period.
In the detail view of My Student@work (on your computer) you can see the number of hours scheduled per employer and the number of hours actually worked. You will also find an overview of the student agreements you have concluded.
No, you do not have to do anything yourself.
The employer you have a student agreement with informs the NSSO electronically of the number of hours that he/she wants to employ you for. These hours are automatically deducted from your total.
If you work for longer or shorter than agreed, your employer can inform the NSSO of the modified data so that your remaining hours are adjusted. Please note: an employer does not have to do this. So it is possible that your remaining number of hours is no longer up to date at a certain time.
There can be several reasons:
- Planned hours are also already included. Your employer indicates your work hours as soon as you sign a contract. These hours are immediately subtracted from your remaining hours, even if you haven't yet worked a single hour.
- You have signed a student agreement, but your employer has not (yet) sent your hours to the NSSO.
- Your employer incorrectly reported your hours to the NSSO.
- You have worked for longer or shorter than stated and your employer has not (yet) updated the NSSO.
Do the non-updated hours cause a problem, for example because you are missing hours for another student job? Please contact your employer. He/she can put things right quickly and easily by adjusting the ‘Dimona’.
Have you had different employers and don’t know where the problem lies? Have a look at the detail view of the online service My Student@work. You’ll have a clear view of which employer and which hours are involved. Does an employer not want to cooperate? Contact us via our contact form. We will find a solution together with you and the employer.
Download a certificate
When you apply for a student job or sign a student contract, your employer may ask you to produce a Student@work certificate.
The Student@work certificate mentions how many hours there are left of the 600 hours you can work at reduced social contributions. This way, an employer can see at once how long he can still employ you at reduced social contributions.
Please follow these steps:
- Log in. (How do I log in?)
- Select the year you want to download a certificate. You can download certificates for the ongoing year and the next year. For the next year, it is only possible starting in December.
- Click 'Download certificate'. The certificate is in pdf format. The certificate contains an access code and states the number of remaining hours.
- Give the employer the access code of your certificate. You can mail, print or put the code in your CV. With the access code the employer can now log in to My Student@work and see the number of hours you have left.
Important things to know:
- You can download as many certificates as you want.
- New month = new code: at the start of a new month, My Student@work automatically generates a new access code.
- The access code is only valid for a limited period of time. The employer can see your remaining hours for three months.
- The employer can only see the number of remaining hours. The employer cannot see detailed data, such as the jobs you have already done or that you still want to do.
- You can only download a certificate for the current and next year. For the next year, it is only possible starting in December.
The certificate is not mandatory. Your employer can hire you without one, but he/she will have a clearer view of your situation if you are able to show him/her a certificate.
Are you having issues logging in? Read ‘How do I log in?’. Still not working? Call our Contact Centre. Our team will find the appropriate solution for you.
Then you can't download a certificate.
We can provide you with one, but you must first prove that you are eligible to work as a job student. Please contact our Contact Centre.
Every certificate you download, is sent automatically to your eBox. Your eBox is a secure electronic mailbox or collection point where you can safely receive, store and manage all your government documents digitally. You can activate your personal eBox via the MyeBox portal (New window) (in French).
Your certificate will remain available for two months. Certificates you no longer need can be archived.
If you start work as a temporary worker, you don't need to create a certificate. The agency can directly check your remaining hours. At the time of signing of the contract, you must give your written consent for the agency to do that for you.

Your data
It’s just you.
Your employer can enter your account only if you give him/her the access code. This allows him/her to view during three months only your remaining number of hours.
All other data, such as other employers you have worked for, remain hidden.
The protection of your personal data is very important to the National Social Security Office (NSSO). All processing of your personal data is therefore done in accordance with applicable legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
